Liturgy of the Eucharist
Presentation of the Gifts
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life.
Blessed be God for ever.
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
Blessed be God for ever.
Then, after the priest has washed his hands, he invites the people to join in prayer:
Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his Church.
The Priest says prayer over the gifts At the end, the people respond:
Amen
Eucharistic Prayer
The Priest may choose from among four different Eucharistic Prayers
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
It is right to give him thanks and praise.
The priest reads the Preface. At the end everyone sings the hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Everyone kneels down and the priest consecrates the gifts. Then the priest says:
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
The priest reads the concluding doxology. Then he lifts the Holy Gifts over the altar with the words:
Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever.
